Easy Apple Crumble
Serves 4-6
- 1 cup unsalted better
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 vanilla bean, or 1 Tbs vanilla extract
- 1 Tbs cinnamon
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp allspice
- 8 cups apples; peeled, halved, seeded, and sliced
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- pinch kosher salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- In a saucepan over medium-high heat, cook butter until lightly browned, 2-3 minutes.
- Add brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and all-spice.
- Cook, stirring, until fully combined.
- Add apples and raisisns.
- Cook 3 minutes.
- Set aside.
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, flour, salt, and diced cold butter.
- Use your hands to massage in the butter until mixture resembles crumbs.
- Add apple mix to a baking dish.
- Spread the topping over the apples and gently pat to even out.
- Bake until golden brown and bubbly, 40-50 minutes.
