An unlikely combination: the maple syrup rounds out the grassy, farm-like qualities of Agricole rum (which is made from fresh sugar cane as opposed to molasses), rather than hiding it.

2 oz Martinique Agricole rum
1 oz maple syrup
1/2 oz lime juice

Shake in an iced cocktail shaker.
Strain into a cocktail glass.
